Two padel players walking onto a blue outdoor court, racquets in hand

Planned club concept | Greater London

A place to play, connect and return

Court 17 is a proposed members' club in Greater London built around padel, tennis, hospitality and social connection. It is one planned application of GSH's broader investment approach to clubs and member relationships.

Site selection underway. The concept is not yet operating; final facilities and programming depend on the selected site and development feasibility.

The concept

Named for the outside court.

The one with no cameras, no seats and the best tennis of the day. The place people actually want to be.

The proposed plan is a long bar, a day desk people can work from, a dining room, a social calendar built around a Thursday mix-in.

Membership is the part that holds. The economics are set out in What Soho House teaches sports investors.

Club life

The room after the match

Part of the value is what happens off court: the drink after a match, the day spent working at the club, the friends who become regular partners.

  • Friends laughing around a marble table with drinks in a wood-panelled bar

    The long bar

  • A tennis player reaching up to serve under a covered steel roof

    On court

  • Two players resting on a courtside wall, smiling, a water bottle beside them

    Between matches

  • A bright lounge with a coffee bar, planted wall and sofas by tall windows

    The day desk

  • Two friends drinking coffee at a long wooden table

    Before the first game

  • Two padel racquets lying on a deep blue court beside white lines

    Deep blue surfaces, white lines

The club product

What we propose to build

Design decisions for a club that is not yet built.

Proposed: eight padel, three tennis

Eleven courts in total, as proposed. Enough padel to run a full programme. Enough tennis for members who play both.

Deep blue surfaces, white lines

One surface specification across the site, so the club reads as one place.

Green canopies, covered but open-sided

Covered play through a British winter, without enclosing the courts entirely.

Every match captured

Court recording proposed as standard. Members watch their own matches back. The clips travel.

Market context

Local demand must support the club

UK padel growth provides context for the concept. Site selection also requires evidence of the catchment, competition, willingness to pay, planning feasibility and operating costs.

The GSH framework

The Thesis in Practice

Court 17 brings together four parts of the GSH investment framework:

Sport

World-class padel and tennis facilities.

Player Development

Coaching and structured pathways for players from juniors to adults.

Hospitality

A premium club experience with dining, wellness and work-friendly spaces.

Social Connection

Leagues, events and shared experiences on and off court.

The objective is not simply more court utilization. It is a stronger and more valuable member relationship.
